Weekly News

Mar. 23, 2017

Dear Parents and Students,
I hope everyone had a nice and relaxing spring break.  It was nice to see the children's sleepy smiles on Monday.  We had a very busy week with Kite Day, Spring Pictures, and Chuckie Cheese night. I believe we're already to get some rest this weekend.
This week we did a lot of practice to help us get ready for the STARR Writing test next Tuesday.  We also finished our novel, The BFG, and are doing some activities to go along with it including reading about the author, Roald Dahl.
In math, we are finishing up our unit on geometry.  The students have learned about triangles and quadrilaterals or quadriangles.  We did many activities with symmetry using folding and transparent mirrors.  The children will review on Friday and take their math test on Monday.
We have been spending a great deal of time on the oil industry in social studies and will continue this next week.  We also have been reading passages on the different layers and types of soil in science.
If you requested a conference time on April 4, I put a post it in your child's planner with a scheduled time.  I tried to accommodate your requests as best as I could.  Many people wanted the early time or the late times.  Thank you for being understanding and I look forward to talking with you.
